MEETING MINUTES

OPENING

 

PRESENT

Caren Gallagher, Bill Cummings, Alison Pike, Cathy Henry, Eileen Bischoff, Kevin Peck and Anne Buchanan, Admin.Assistant

Guests:  Cathy Scerbo, Mark Ward

 

 

OPENING

The September 11, 2006 meeting of the Stratham Recreation Commission was called to order at 7:10 p.m.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Bill motioned to approved the minutes of the June 5th, 2006 meeting, Eileen 2nd, all in favor, motion passed.

 

SOCCER

Kevin reported that the first day of Soccer was Saturday, Sept. 9th.  He mentioned that the price increased from $25.00 per participant for all age grades to $30.00 for K and 1st grade and $40.00 for 3rd & 4th and 5th & 6th grade programs.  There are 5 travel teams.  The Soccer Board was considering entertaining the idea of double-rostering.  There was a complaint which resulted in the decision not to allow double-rostering this year.  Participants must declare a primary team.

 

 

BASKETBALL

Cathy Scerbo was present to represent the Basketball Board.  She said that she would be sending budget information in to the office the following week.  Facility use would not be included in the budget as Stratham Memorial School does not charge for it’s use.  Cathy said that the only charge related to facilities use might be a payment to the janitor for his services.

 

BASEBALL

Mark Ward was present to represent the Baseball Board. The Cooperstown trip was discussed and Mark said that the trip was very successful.  Twelve children from Stratham participated.  Mark proposed a first aid course for Coaches, possibly mandatory.  This course could be made available to other Boards who may want to participate in this course at the same time.

 

 

STEVENS PARK

There was a discussion about drainage problems at the Park that Bell and Flynn are currently working on correcting.  The paving will be finished and striped and once that is done, asphalt will be laid for the tennis court.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Friends of Stratham Hill Park had proposed that they host an Oktoberfest/Halloween Party and have requested Stratham Recreation’s Assistance/involvement.

 

Bill motioned to adjourn to the Selectmen’s meeting at 8:40 p.m., 2nd by Alison, all in favor, motion passed.
