Summer Concert Series
Stratham Hill Park
The Stratham Recreation Commission is pleased to announce the 2009 Summer Concert Series schedule with an
unprecedented number of performances at Stratham Hill Park. Now more than ever, families are searching their
communities for low-cost, wholesome and fun family entertainment. It’s easy to overlook that such opportunities
are often found in our own neighborhoods. "The Town of Stratham is thrilled to offer our spacious park to the
seacoast community for our annual Summer Concert Series," said Tara Barker, Stratham Parks and Recreation Director.
Stratham parent Richard Henderson agrees, "It’s the perfect stress-free venue for exposing families of all ages to
eclectic blends of music, particularly the six slated performances."

Stratham Lacrosse
Welcome interested lacrosse players and parents, please read to the end:
The coaches and staff of the Exeter Youth Lacrosse Association (EYLA) welcome you to the 2009 lacrosse season.
About EYLA: For those of you unfamiliar with our
program, the EYLA is a total volunteer organization. We are not sponsored or funded by the school district or the town recreation department.
The program is run by a Board of Directors and a volunteer coaching staff along with the assistance of the parents of all players. We are dedicated to
the instruction of the game of lacrosse, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play. The EYLA is open to all students who reside within the boundaries of the
SAU-16 school district and those surrounding towns that do not currently field a youth lacrosse team.
About the Season: All players, at each level, will play in each of their games. EYLA plans to field teams at the following levels:
U9 -- boys & girls, U11 – boys & girls, U13 – boys & girls, and U15 – boys & girls. If we have sufficient players in any of the U13 or U15 groups we will
field A & B level teams. The "A" teams will have tryouts. We will announce a place and time for tryouts once it is determined that we have enough players
to field two teams at that particular level. Players who try out for an "A" team and do not make it are automatically placed on the "B" team in their age
bracket. The EYLA teams will begin to practice, weather permitting, at the beginning of April 2009. Some of the older players may begin indoor practice
in March 2009. The New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association requires us to notify them of the different teams that we will field by the beginning of
February. Therefore, we ask that you make your decision regarding your players participation in the spring lacrosse program as soon as possible and no
later than the end of January 2009.
Registration: To determine your players level (U9, U11, U13, or U15) please use the following chart:
As of December 31, 2008 if your child is:
- 8 years of age or under – then your player is U9
- 10 years of age or under – then your player is U11
- 12 years of age or under – then your player is U13
- 14 years of age or under – then your player is U15
- If your child is young for his grade and all of his/her friends are playing in the next level up then you can register your player for that level.
Players can play up but cannot play down.
The following forms must be completed on-line and the registration fee received in order to establish your player’s membership on a team roster by the
February 20th deadline:
- Registration Form (available at the Web site listed below): It is important to complete all questions on the form, as any blank line items will
be considered incomplete.
- Registration Fee: The registration fee this year is $160 for boys and $130 for girls. Checks must be received by Wayne Demers at 7 Granite
Street Exeter, NH 03833 before a registered player will be placed on a team. Note, this increase includes the cost of the US Lacrosse membership.
All players will be registered with US Lacrosse through Exeter Youth Lacrosse.
- Parents Consent for Treatment of Minor Form (available at the Web site listed below): This form gives the hospital and doctors permission to treat
your player in the event of an accident and the EYLA coaches are unable to get in touch with the parent/guardian.
- Note: US Lacrosse Membership Number - This year Exeter Youth Lacrosse will register your player with US Lacrosse as part of your Exeter Youth
Lacrosse registration. Note – you do not have to go to US Lacrosse to register your player. Your registration form provides EYLA with the required
information needed on your player. It is through US Lacrosse that the EYLA receives its liability insurance and certificates of insurance when necessary
Teams: Team rosters will be established in early March 2009. Players who missed the February 20th, 2009 deadline will be placed on a
waiting list and assigned a team if there is space available. Team size for A teams will be 23 players and team size for B teams will be a maximum of
25 players. When necessary we will field more than one B team as long as we have the parent volunteers to help manage and coach the team. All families
will be contacted in early March 2009 to learn the status of their player.
Please note the following dates & other information:
- In order for your player(s) to be part of a team, you must register on-line at the following:
Website: http://www.exeteryouthlacrosse.org
Once you get to our web site go to the Register Online button which is on the left hand side of the page and click, then click on the program that you
want to register for (Boys Spring, Girls Spring, Boys Winter Clinic, or Girls Winter Clinic). All registration will be conducted on-line. Players will not
be assigned to a team or allowed to participate in a particular activity until all fees have been paid. If you have a difficulty with registration or with
a particular fee please contact Wayne Demers at 778-8411 or wdemers@comcast.net.
- A mandatory parent meeting for all families participating in the spring season program will be held at the Cooperative Middle School.
The date has yet to be determined. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00pm and will be over no later than 8:30pm. The goal of this meeting is to give
the parents and opportunity to meet the coaches, ask questions about the program, and hear about the various volunteer opportunities that need to be
filled to assure a successful season for the players.
- Equipment for the 2009 Spring Season:
Each player will be provided with a jersey and shorts. Each player must provide his or her own equipment. Girls will need a stick, goggles, and a mouth
guard. Boys will need a helmet, shoulder pads, arm guards, gloves, stick, mouth guard, and athletic supporter. All players should have rubber cleats for
traction on the fields but sneakers are acceptable. Sneakers should be worn whenever we use indoor fields. U11 & U13B boys can wear hockey helmets instead
of a lacrosse helmet. All boys team players at the U13 A level and above must wear regulation lacrosse helmets. (We recommend a silver body with navy blue
visor and chin piece.)
Finally, we are sure that the Exeter Youth Lacrosse experience will be a positive one for you and your player. If you have additional questions contact
Wayne Demers at 603-778-8411 or e-mail at wdemers@comcast.net. Please make a note of this contact information for
future reference.
