Stratham Municipal Center

OPENING:

Members present: Becky Mitchell, chair; Nancy Hansen, treasurer and secretary pro tem; MJ Werner, Planning Board rep.

Meeting: Opened at 5:35pm; adjourned, 6:25pm.

Minutes: The minutes of 10 February 2009 were approved after making the following correction under New Business—2009 Town Meeting place changed to SMS (Stratham Memorial School).

Treasury: The treasurer had no report as the budget has not yet been approved.

OLD BUSINESS:

Gateway: A public hearing was held on 4 March; an article appeared in the Exeter News-Letter 10 March.

Planning Board: Follow up--MJ Werner stated last month that she hopes to organize a meeting for all interested residents, location owners, and town boards/ commissions, and Historical Society to discuss the use of the town center as an integral part of the town’s vision and heritage during a regular Planning Board Meeting.

Survey of Historical Resources: The work session on 23 February produced the beginning of a manual (draft to #24). The chair anticipates one more planning meet-ings in April with a “test” of the draft manual to follow. Finally, a procedures/ instruction manual needs to be developed for volunteers, who should be in place for the beginning of the survey in the Fall of 2009.

OEP Conference: This conference is to be held on 2 May; one session of interest is the topic of Neighborhood Heritage Districts. Members voted to send the chair as a representative to this meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

NH Preservation Alliance: Conference on Community Preservation workshops in Belmont on 27 March. Also of note, the Alliance will now send e-newsletters only.

Town Meeting: The meeting will be held in SMS on Friday 13 March at 7:30pm. Any HC members who are interested may go to talk about the Gateway project; telephone Chuck Grassie at the municipal center.
