OPENING
BUSINESS
Members present: Becky
Mitchell, chair; member and secretary/treasurer, Nancy Hansen, respectfully
submitting these minutes; and alternate Flossy Wiggin. Joining later: Paul Deschaine,
Town Administrator.
Meeting: The meeting
was opened at 5:40 and was adjourned at 7:20pm.
Minutes: Minutes of
the 11 December meeting, written by the secretary, Nancy Hansen, were corrected
as follows:
Re
MINUTES section: immediate past
meeting date changed from 11 to 13 December 2007.
Re
NEW BUSINESS section, re SPNHF Tract of Land:
All references to Jeff Scamman corrected to
Jeff Hyland and land referred to as the Strathlorne
Tract changed to suggested name of Richard F. Scammon
Conservation Area—note spelling changed Scamman to Scammon. Minutes approved noting these changes and
corrections.
Treasury: Financial reports not received from the town,
so this report postponed until the February meeting.
Next
meetings: Tuesday,
12 February (some of you may remember this
as Lincoln’s birthday), 5:30pm, Municipal Center,
EOC room. Note this is the SECOND Tuesday of the month.
OLD BUSINESS:
Historical Resources
Survey: No
new news; flash drives purchased for Kellner’s
computer (maps and Concord materials) and for data base management (to be given
to Deb Long, database manager).
Master Plan: The
chair wrote a letter to the editor, which was published in the Exeter
News-Letter on 12/18/07, noting misleading subhead and offering correction.
Planning Board:
Meeting to be held 16 January to go
over the HC section of the Master Plan.
All members encouraged to attend.
The meeting for the Gateway development is Wednesday, 1/30 at 7pm. Members encouraged to attend this important
meeting.
Annual Report:
The chair is compiling the report and
will circulate to members; it is due Tuesday, 1/22/08.
Space Needs:
No news from Paul Deschaine.
SPNHF Tract of Land: Chair spoke
with the head of the state forestry society and there are no legal obstacles to
changing the name change to Richard F. Scammon
Conservation Area.
NEW BUSINESS:
Slate of Officers/Vote: Members
present voted to install the following
members at the March meeting: Becky
Mitchell, chair; Nancy Hansen, treasurer; Sarah L. Kellner,
secretary. The vote was unopposed and
unanimous.
NH Preservation Alliance Training Workshop: To be held
Friday, 18 January from 10-2pm in Exeter at the Historical Society. Topics to be covered: legal roles of heritage and historical
district commissions. Becky/Flossy will
contact Sarah Kellner and Peter Wiggin
to see if they might attend as members present tonight are unable to do so.
New Hampshire Preservation Newsletter: The chair
encouraged members present to review the December issue, particularly the
article on demolition review (delay) ordinances where Stratham is mentioned as
a pioneering town in this regard.
Carriage Towne News Questionnaire: The Town
Administrator, Paul Deschaine, presented to the chair
a questionnaire re progress/developments in the town within the past 25
years. The chair will discuss completing
the survey with members of the Stratham Historical Society. It is due at the end of January.
Meeting in February: The next
meeting will take place in the EOC room, as usual, on the second Tuesday of the
month (12 Feb) at 5:30pm.
