As Stratham does not have an in-town station of its own, we will attempt to post this information on this Web site for you whenever possible. These postings cover topics such as consumer safety (like product recalls), state government and political issues, and public service announcements.     Stratham Hill Park

    Stratham Hill Park Regulations:
    For information about using the pavilion at Stratham Hill Park, please contact the town office at 772-7391.

    Mini-bikes, motorcycles and all like motorized vehicles are prohibited in Stratham Hill Park except on tarred areas and on the main driveway. Use of such vehicles at the park are limited to transportation to and from park activities exclusively. Violation of this regulation will result in vehicles being towed away at the owner's expense.

    Stratham Hill Park Association:
    This is an advisory committee to the Board of Selectmen in the use and management of the park. Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of odd months of the year at 8:30 pm in the Municipal Center.

    Your very own Stratham Historical Society is a fantastic resource for any information about Stratham history, including genealogical searches. They also offer very good programs about history and genealogy and annual Appraisal Days.

    Stratham's Schools

    Stratham's elementary school is the Stratham Memorial School which has it's own School Board. Stratham students also attend the Cooperative Middle School for grades 6-8 and Exeter High School for grades 9-12, both regional schools under the Exeter Region Cooperative School Board.

    Common Questions and the Answers

    • When are taxes due in Stratham?
      Taxes are collected twice annually, due dates dependent on required State of NH information. Taxes are collected semiannually in July and December. For specific due dates and all general tax collection information, please call the Tax Collector's office at 772-4741. Open hours are Mondays 8:30-7 pm, Tues - Thurs 8:30 am - 4 pm, and Fridays 8 am - 12:30 pm.

    • Are there any tax exemptions or credits to qualify for in Stratham?
      Stratham offers both veterans tax credits and elderly tax exemptions to those residents who qualify. To apply and get more information about qualifications, please contact the Assessor's Office at 772-7391 and ask for Andrea Lewy. Open hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4 pm.

    • How can I become a registered voter in the town of Stratham?
      You can register to vote by going to the Town Clerk's office in the Municipal Center during normal business hours (Mon 8:30 am - 7 pm, Tu-Th 8:30 am - 4 pm, Fri 8:30 am-12:30 pm) or attend one of the posted meetings of the Supervisors of the Checklist. You must have some form of photo identification, proof of residence and proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate, passport or a voter registration card. If you don't have access to these documents, you may sign a citizenship affadavit at the Town Clerk's Office.

    • What do I need to do to register my vehicle in the town of Stratham?
      If the car was already registered in NH, please bring a piece of mail with your Stratham address on it (or other Stratham address confirmation) and the NH registration. If the car was most recently registered outside of NH, the procedures vary depending on the state of registration. Please call the town office at 772-4741 between 8:30 am and 4 pm for specific details.

    • How can we get a marriage license in the town of Stratham?
      The couple needs to visit the town offices with valid photo identification (driver's licenses are fine) in order to get a marriage license. It is not possible at this time to do this by mail or phone, only in person. If it is not a first marriage, you will also need copies of divorce papers or death certificates. A marriage license is valid for 90 days. We recommend that you call the town offices (772-4741) to confirm what kinds of information you will need to bring so that everything goes smoothly.

    • When is the town office open?
      The town offices are usually open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

    • I have an issue to bring before the Board of Selectman. How do I do that?
      You will need to contact the town administrator at the town offices (772-7391) before 4:00 pm on the Thursday before the meeting to be put on the agenda.

    • I need to speak to a police officer outside of regular business hours (8:30-4:30). What do I do?
      Outside of regular business hours officers are on patrol rather than in the station. You should call Dispatch at 772-6047 and let the dispatcher know where you are and that you need to meet with an officer.

    • Where is the Municipal Center?
      The Municipal Center, housing the Town Offices, Police Station and the Library, is at 10 Bunker Hill Ave. in Stratham. Bunker Hill Ave. is off of Rte 108/Portsmouth Avenue. (Directions)

    • How can I run for town office?
      First, you must be a registered voter in Stratham. You must register to run for any elected position at the town offices during the annual filing period. There may be a fee. The filing period is usually the last week in January. Please call the town offices at 772-4741 for more information.
