U.S. Government

If you need some information that the U.S. Government can provide, the internet is a good place to begin. Many of the federal departments are online and can answer simple questions. Here are a few sites to get you started.

  • Almanac of American Politics

    This very useful resource includes profiles of members of Congress, political histories of every state and congressional district, and information about campaign finance, presidential politics and election cycles.

  • Biographical Directory of the US Congress

    Covers from 1774 to the present. Search for a brief biographical sketch of a member of Congress by name, position or state.

  • Center for Disease Control & Prevention

    News, health information, statistics, publications, etc.

  • CIA

    A basic electronic depository collection that provides direct online access to essential documents. Topics include legislation, public law, regulations, office of the President, demographics and economy.
