Wiggin Memorial Library

Inter-Library Cooperation Policy

The Wiggin Memorial Library recognizes the value of inter-library cooperation as a means of reducing cost and increasing service.  Such cooperation allows our library users access to a greater range of resources without requiring the library to purchase or store those resources.  To that end:

1.    The library will maintain membership in the New Hampshire Statewide Library Development System and the Seacoast Library Cooperative.

2.    At least one staff member or trustee will be a member of the New Hampshire Library Association (NHLA) and Children’s Librarians of New Hampshire (CHILIS) at the library’s expense.

3.    The library will maintain access to the New Hampshire Automated Information System (NHAIS) and Statewide Database Licensing Project (NHewLINK) and use these to offer inter-library loan and database access to its users.

4.    The library will maintain its holdings on NHAIS so that other libraries can borrow from our collection.

5.    The director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining informal contact with schools, libraries and community groups in as wide a circle as possible.

6.    The library will encourage businesses, schools, and other libraries to use our resources in the hope that reciprocal access will be made available.
