Genealogy Databases

We have access to one genealogy database online, HeritageQuest, which can be used either from home or inside the library. To use HeritageQuest from home, please visit the library to pick up the remote access username and password. If you have trouble logging on, don't hesitate to ask a staff member for assistance. (to print out our genealogy resources brochure, click here. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.)

HeritageQuest: for home or library use
Includes:

  • ProQuest's Genealogy & Local History collection
  • Complete U.S. Federal Census, 1790-1930
  • PERSI - the PERiodical Source Index.

Ancestry Library Edition:
Unfortunately, the NH State Library had to cancel the statewide subscription to this database due to budget cuts. We were receiving it through that program so we are no longer able to offer it.

Why can't you just give me the User ID & Password on the Web site?
This service is only available to NH library users through a contract between the database providers and the NH State Library. For that reason, we can't make the User ID & Password available via the Web, where anyone could access that information. For more information on the services that the NH State Library make available, please visit http://www.nhewlink.state.nh.us/
